Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham
under the patronage of Blessed John Henry Newman

In this section:

SHEFFIELD AND SOUTH YORKSHIRE
ORDINARIATE

Welcome to the Parish Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Sheffield where the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham meets to offer Mass according to the Ordinariate Use. Everyone is welcome and all Catholics in communion with the Holy See are permitted to receive the Sacraments with us. These Masses are listed by referring to Dates for your diary opposite.

While we are certainly untraditional in our structure we are traditional in our forms of worship using the liturgical celebrations proper to the Anglican Tradition which have been approved by the Holy See, so as to maintain the liturgical, spiritual and pastoral traditions of the Anglican Communion within the Catholic Church.

We are in communion with the Universal Church because we believe that having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, through the Church he established, is in accordance with the unity for which our Lord prayed. We discover the healing of Christ’s Church through our communion within the Catholic Church and it is our mission to continually call other Christians to begin that same healing and unity we have started to experience ourselves.

MASS AT OUR LADY OF LOURDES, HACKENTHORPE

The next Mass at the Catholic Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Spring Water Avenue, Hackenthorpe, will next take place after Easter. Please watch this space for date and time. We shall continue to go to the Phoenix Inn following Mass at Hackenthorpe. Everyone is welcome to join us.

__________________________

We are in the process of planning an active spiritual and social life during the coming year.  In addition to the regular Masses at the Cathedral and Hackenthorpe we are looking into the possibility of singing Evensong according to the Customary. Psalms will be sung to Gregorian Tones arranged by John Stainer [Briggs and Frere] sung by the Schola Cantorum Gregoriana Santae Mariae. with the Office hymn taken from the English Hymnal. In October we intend to celebrate High Mass where the 'New Chamber Choir;' will sing the Mass setting. Those who have heard the New Chamber Choir will know how magnificent they are under the directorship of Paul Hudson.

In addition to the annual Garden Party in the Summer and the Strictly Party at Hackenthorpe in the Autumn  we intend to join our sister group in York for a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Saint Margaret Clitheroe and also, given York's famous railway heritage, a day out on a steam train excursion in August.
