Anglicans come home in Croydon
Monday 2nd April 2012

Sixty five former members of St Michael & All Angels' (Church of England) Croydon, have been received into the full communion of the Catholic Church.

Former Anglican bishop, Monsignor John Broadhurst, received and confirmed the group who will now form the Croydon Ordinariate Group.

The former Vicar, the Revd Donald Minchew, together with the majority of the congregation have left behind the beautiful church of St Michael & All Angels, in order to answer Pope Benedict's call to Christian Unity.

In his homily, Mgr Broadhurst recalled the many struggles of Anglo-Catholics, reassuring the new Catholics that they have reached 'the Promised Land' after the exodus through the desert.

The group was warmly welcomed by the parish clergy and faithful of Our Lady of Reparation, Croydon, with many members of the congregation acting as sponsors for the new Ordinariate members.

After the Mass a reception was held in the parish centre.
