Each year the Friends of the Ordinariate organise a Festival of lessons and carols in honour of the Epiphany. This year there was a double celebration because the basement area's refurbishment was completed just before Christmas. There was just time to get the area organised to use. Lessons and carols was celebrated with music from the choir (in good voice as usual), followed by Benediction with Msg Keith presiding. Following this the congregation all moved downstairs and the hall was blessed by HE Antonio Mennini, the Apostolic Nuncio. There were about 200 people present and it was a bit crowded especially when people were wandering around looking at the new facilities and talking to each other! The hall will now be known as the Challoner Hall after the bishop of the same name. He was active in the area during the difficult times following the 1745 uprising. There are plans for using the hall and it is planned that the Companions of Malta will be running a breakfast club for the homeless. In addition, the Faith movement and the Mind Body and spirit retreats will be returning to Warwick street. Busy days ahead!
