The organist who plays for the Chichester Ordinariate group has composed a musical score for the prayer before communion "Lord, I am not worthy..."
The score is written for the words of the prayer as they are spoken in the Ordinariate Use: "Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof, but speak the word only, and my soul shall be healed".
Neil Sands wrote the piece for unison voices and organ, to reflect both the distribution of singers in the Chichester choir and the wish of the congregation there to join in with the singing. The Chichester Ordinariate Group says it should therefore be easy to adopt it in other Ordinariate groups. It can be used with either Merbecke or Martin Shaw Mass settings.
Neil Sands' score, called "Not Worthy" can be obtained HERE (Enter "Not Worthy" in the search box.)
The Chichester Ordinariate group, led by Fr Graham Smith, was established in the spring of 2014 to serve the Ordinariate's mission in West Sussex.
It celebrates an Ordinariate Use Mass at 4.15 pm every Saturday (the first Mass of Sunday) at St Richard's Catholic Church, Cawley Road, Chichester. The Mass is always followed by refreshments and all are welcome. For Christmas, the Chichester Ordinariate group will celebrate Mass at 6 pm on Christmas Eve.
