Sacra Liturgia 2013 and the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham are pleased to announce that the Ordinary, Monsignor Keith Newton, will be present at the Sacra Liturgia 2013 conference in Rome at the end of June. Monsignor Newton will present the contribution of Monsignor Andrew Burnham, "The Sacred Liturgy and Christian Unity" and will contribute to the discussion of this topic, with particular reference to the establishment of Personal Ordinariates. Unfortunately Mgr Burnham is unable to travel to Rome himself during his current period of recuperation after serious illness.
Mgr Newton said, "The dignified celebration of the Sacred Liturgy is at the heart of the Christian life. For those of us from the Anglican tradition, now within the fullness of the Catholic Church, we have inherited a great wealth to draw on, but also bring gifts from our own tradition that can contribute to the re-enchantment of divine worship, and bring us into a closer union with God".
Mgr Dominique Rey, Bishop of Fréjus-Toulon and the Convenor of Sacra Liturgia 2013, expressed his sorrow that Mgr Burnham could not be present personally and assured him of prayers for a swift recovery. "I am grateful that he is still able to contribute", he said. "It will be a great joy to welcome Mgr Newton. His presence will enable us to celebrate our Catholic unity which embraces the riches of differing legitimate liturgical traditions".
