Parishioners from the Most Precious Blood Church, Borough - which is in the pastoral care of the Ordinariate - attended an ecumenical service in Borough HighStreet on Sunday 30 March to re-consecrate the war memorial which has been returned after undergoing restoration work.
The service was led by the Church of England Dean of Southwark, the Very Revd Andrew Nunn. Fr Christopher Pearson, the parish priest at the Most Precious Blood, read a lesson. Councillor Adele Morris explained the story of the memorial's restoration to the assembled guests. (She is pictured here, with Fr Pearson on her right.) Local army reservists and air cadets, the mayor and other civic officials also took part in the service.
The war memorial has been restored so that it is in place for the First World War centenary commemorations this summer.
