Fraternal greetings to Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict

The Ordinary, Mgr Keith Newton, has sent fraternal greetings to both Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict to express the love, loyalty and gratitude of the clergy and people of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham in the run-up to the anniversary of the publication in November 2009 of the Apostolic Constitution, Anglicanorum Cœtibus, which allowed for the setting up of the ordinariates.

The Ordinary of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, Mgr Keith Newton, has drawn a distinction between the universal nature of the Catholic Church and the established Church in this country, which he said "is ultimately beholden to parliament and will often reflect the nation's attitudes".

The feast of Bl John Henry Newman

The Feast of Bl John Henry Newman on 9 October, father of the Oxford movement, patron of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham and founder of the Oratory in England, was marked with an Apostolic Blessing, several excellent reflections and homilies and the production of a new DVD on Newman's life and work.


Scrapbook for Pope Emeritus Benedict

The Ladies Ordinariate Group (LOGS), based at the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Borough, has sent a large scrapbook to Pope Emeritus XVI, thanking him for the Ordinariate and telling him about its activities.


Anglican patrimony in Pembury
Wednesday 8th October 2014

Fr Ed Tomlinson, leader of the Tunbridge Wells Ordinariate group based at St Anselm's Church, Pembury, is raising funds to erect an antique lychgate which will eventually form the new entrance into the church. "The lychgate will create for us a beautiful new feature evoking something of the English spirituality and patrimony that lies at the heart of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham" he says.


Ordinary visits Birmingham Cathedral

The Ordinary of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, Mgr Keith Newton, visited St Chad's Cathedral, Birmingham over the weekend of 4/5 October as the guest of Archbishop Bernard Longley who had invited him to preach at all Masses as part of a tour the Ordinary is making of Catholic cathedrals to raise awareness of the Ordinariate.

The prominent Anglican Bishop, Michael Nazir-Ali, formerly the Bishop of Rochester, has spoken of the overriding importance of the Catholic Church's global voice for the future of Christianity in a world threatened by Islamic militancy and secularism. Bishop Nazir Ali was addressing the clergy of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, where he was the guest speaker at their plenary session at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Soho Square, London (on 2 October). He was speaking on the subject: "A Global Christianity in the Making".
