Members of the Ladies Ordinariate Grouo – LOGS – took to the River Thames recently with a trip to Blessed John Henry Newman's childhood home at Ham, near Richmond.
LOGS, plus various friends, and parishioners from the Church of the Most Precious Blood at London Bridge including parish priest Fr Christopher Pearson, went by boat along the Thames from Westminster to Richmond. Then it was a walk along the riverbank to Grey Court House, the large Georgian mansion which was the Newman family home in the 1800s. The young John Henry spent childhood summers there, and a blue plaque now marks this fact.
Grey Court House is now part of Grey Court School, a large comprehensive school in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
LOGS will be going on pilgrimage to Walsingham in September, staying at Dowry House, the recently-opened retreat house in Walsingham village.
