Members of the Ladies Ordinariate Group will be spending a weekend at Walsingham in August, for a time of "thanksgiving, pilgrimage, prayer and planning" as they look ahead to their programme for 2015 and beyond.
The group meets regularly at the Ordinariate Church of the Most Precious Blood at London Bridge, and at St Mary's, West Croydon where the Croydon Ordinariate is based. Activities over the past two years have ranged from running a London-wide project for Catholic and Anglican primary schools, to carol-singing at London Bridge station, a pilgrimage to Littlemore in honour of Blessed John Henry Newman, and talks on prison chaplaincy work and on evangelisation.
The group will be staying at the Anglican shrine, and will attend Mass at the Catholic shrine. While at the Anglican shrine, they will participate in the traditional "sprinkling" with water from the Walsingham well, and in the procession in honour of Our Lady of Walsingham. They will walk the Holy Mile to the Catholic shrine for Mass.
The Secretary of the group, Kathie Kempton, said: "It's an opportunity to give thanks - we've had a wonderful time since the group started, and there is so much for which we are gratefu". The range of activities is expanding all the time - especially our work with children in schools, which we do in association with an ecumenical group. We need to work on our projects for 2015...and to pray together at Walsingham, which is such a special place for us. We say the prayer to Our Lady of Walsingham at every meeting."
