Online Guides to New Prayer Book
|
Father Christopher Lindlar, Convenor of the Office Book Working Group writes:
The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, in a collaboration with EWTN GB, is happy to announce a series of seven short videos explaining how to use its new daily prayer book, Divine Worship: Daily Office (Commonwealth Edition).
The series will appear in instalments on the Ordinariate’s YouTube channel from 7 to 13 February 2022. The episodes begin with an introduction from the Ordinary, Monsignor Keith Newton, and continue with five ‘how to’ guides, covering the way the Office is prayed, how the book is used on regular days and more elaborate feasts, how to pray the Lesser Hours, and how to use the Supplementary Texts (Hymns, Antiphons, and other texts that enhance the Office through the year). The series concludes with a recording of Evening Prayer, known as Evensong, made in the Slipper Chapel at the National Shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham by kind permission of the Rector.
These videos provide the basics for those starting to pray using Divine Worship: Daily Office (Commonwealth Edition), published by the Catholic Truth Society. They will also be a help to people who are used to praying the Office and now wanting to use the Ordinariates’ new Office book. Laity and clergy alike will benefit from them, deepening their understanding of the treasures to be shared in Divine Worship: Daily Office and the Anglican liturgical tradition in the Catholic Church.
The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham is grateful to EWTN GB for their generous help in the making of these videos.
Background
The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham was established in 2011 to provide for groups of Anglican clergy and laity to enter the full communion of the Catholic Church whilst retaining elements of their liturgical, spiritual, and pastoral traditions. Divine Worship: Daily Office (Commonwealth Edition) is the latest liturgical book for the Ordinariates, providing texts and prayers from the Anglican tradition for use in the Catholic Church by the authority of the Holy See.
