Members of LOGS, the Ladies Ordinariate Group, spent a day wrapping and posting prizes and certificates to children who took part in their "Lord's Prayer project". This is a children's handwriting and artwork project, run through primary schools, which involves writing out the Lord's Prayer and answering some questions to show an understanding of it.
Every participating child receives a commemorative card with the Lord's Prayer on it, and children producing work of exceptional quality get "My Prayer Book", a book with prayers that every child should know.
Every entry to the Project is carefully studied and prizes awarded. Schools that produce entries of a high standard get a certificate to display. It's all run by volunteers, and the work is fueled by, as a LOGS spokesman put it "relays of tea, talk, laughter, cake and fun.
"It's wonderful - and the next time you hear a lament about children in modern Britain not knowing the Lord's Prayer, contact us. We are working on the problem and lots of children are responding in huge numbers."
